First things first
Hotel Eindhoven-Best has three different restaurants:
- Our traditional Van der Valk restaurant with approximately 300 seats. The menu features all-time favourites alongside innovative dishes;
- Our breakfast and lunch buffet with approximately 300 seats;
- A Sky Bar on the 12th floor with approximately 150 seats. With an Italian concept where the music gets you moving, delicious dishes are served and cocktail glasses are generously filled. The dishes here are different from those on the menu in our à la carte restaurant;
- Bonus: our speakeasy bar, Best Kept Secret, on the ground floor.
What will you do?
- You start your day at 10:00, 12:00 or 15:30 and begin by reading the handover. Together with your fellow supervisors, you are responsible for ensuring a smooth handover. You check any special details, review the sheets in IDPMS and check the reservations in ServiceV4;
- Next, you create the daily schedule together with the other restaurant supervisors. You use the briefing board as your guide, because a good start is half the work. You’ll manage a team of around 20 employees per day and make sure everyone knows what is expected of them;
- During service, your responsibilities as a Restaurant Supervisor include welcoming guests at the door (first impression is key), walking the floor and keeping an eye on the pass;
- You step in and make adjustments where necessary and make sure everything runs smoothly. Things don’t always go according to plan, and when they don’t, you stay calm, find an appropriate solution and put it into action;
- You continuously monitor the service team to ensure all tasks are being carried out correctly;
- You are responsible for efficiently training and onboarding new service employees;
- At the end of the shift, you and the team tidy up the restaurant and prepare everything for the next day. The checklists help you monitor the closing team. You write the handover, approve employees’ working hours and take care of the administration;
- Time for a post-shift drink! After all, having fun and building a strong connection with your colleagues is just as important.
What do we expect from you?
- MBO/HBO level of thinking and working, preferably supplemented with an SVH Trainer qualification or a willingness to obtain one;
- Good command of both Dutch and English;
- Stress? Never heard of it;
- At least 2–3 years of experience in a similar position;
- Experience with Untill, our POS system, is a plus;
- You radiate enthusiasm and make sure our guests leave the restaurant with a great feeling – and, of course, want to come back;
- Strong leadership and delegation skills;
- Flexible and available to work hospitality hours, weekends and public holidays.
